Printing technique

Risography is a unique printing technique that combines elements of screen printing (serigraphy) and photocopying. It was originally developed in Japan in the 1980s as a cost-effective method for producing high-volume prints, but it has since gained popularity in the art and design world for its distinctive aesthetic. Indeed, this technique is widely used for creating zines, posters, art prints, and limited edition books, offering a distinctive, textured aesthetic that stands out from standard digital printing.

The artist

Henriette Arcelin is a French illustrator and ceramicist who splits her time between Lisbon and Paris. Her artistic practice is influenced by her education at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London and her ceramics studies in Lisbon. She is inspired by natural history, botany, marine biology, and folklore, often creating intricate “cabinets of wonders” that incorporate elements from her travels and daily life. Her work is known for its imaginative, nature-driven designs and has been featured in various interior design projects for restaurants and hotels in Portugal and France. Her creations range from ceramics to illustrations, making her a versatile and impactful artist in the contemporary scene
