WHAT IS FRESTA – VISUAL CULTURE UNFOLD?
FRESTA VISUAL CULTURE UNFOLD
Before we delve into Newsstand FRESTA, allow me to explain the meaning behind the name.
“FRESTA” is an opening, a crack through which light penetrates. In times of closed doors during the pandemic, this opening became our gaze into the art world. A fresta is more than just a gap; it’s an invitation to see, observe, and discover fragments of the extraordinary.
Catalog & Magazine
The Magazine /catalog FRESTA was our initial attempt to provide this glimpse. Three spectacular editions were released in 2021, in the months of February, March, and April, while Galeria JOIA (2019-2023) was at its peak. Each page was a fresta into artistic talent, a light that illuminated creativity amid darkness.
Now, with Galeria JOIA closed, FRESTA evolves into Newsstand FRESTA VISUAL CULTURE UNFOLD. Here, we unfold our perspective on visual culture. This opening becomes a journey, reminding us of publications and zines that we need to leaf through to truly explore the richness of visual art.
Who will lead this?
Our PAPER BOY, a true art enthusiast, will not only take care of the newsstand but also the blog. He will retrieve the texts from the 2021 catalog magazine, bringing forth the voices and stories captured in those pages.
And what can you find at Newsstand FRESTA VISUAL CULTURE UNFOLD?
Zines, artist books, posters, risographs, silk-screens, linocuts, and even originals – a unique collection reflecting the diversity and innovation of the artists we support.
Where: Avenida Dom Carlos I , next number 119 Lisbon
Join us on this vibrant journey, where each fresta is an opportunity to get lost in the beauty of art.
With enthusiasm,
PAPER BOY
